Locals compete in Turkey Trot

Several area athletes competed in the Dubuque Turkey Trot at Wahlert Nov. 28.

Haris Takes led area finishers in the five-mile race with a time of 34:00. He was 14th overall and fifth in his age group. Kylie Kelchen was 18th overall, the fourth female and first in her age group in 35:20. Randy Gehl placed 65th overall (39:25, 11th in his age group). Julia Gehl was 97th overall (42:22, first in the 11-14 female division).

In the 2.5 mile-run, Preston Kauder was 13th overall (15:41, fifth in 19-24 men’s division) and Phil Kauder was 14th overall (15:43, first in the 50-59 men’s division). Divisional finishers follow.

Women’s 11-14: ninth — Hallie Kelchen (21:13); 15th — Lauren Gehl (23:44).

Men’s 11-14: 11th — Max Nadeau (19:42).

Women’s 15-18: 53rd — Emily Trumm (31:05).

Women’s 19-24: Carolyn Turnis (31:05).

Women’s 30-39: 85th — Laurie Skattum (34:43).

Men’s 30-39: 24th — Brad Manternach (22:29); 36th — Olin Skattum (24:48).

Women’s 40-49: third — Sherry Kelchen (20:52); fourth — Kathleen Klapatauskas, coach Bob Davidshofer’s niece (21:01).

Men’s 40-49: 68th — Ben Bartels (35:03).

Men’s 50-59: 18th — Russ Knepper (26:50).

Men’s 60-69: second — Doug Frey (22:09).
