Three relay teams won races and three others earned points to key the Cascade boys’ track and field team to a sixth-place finish in the River Valley Conference Co-Ed Meet in Anamosa, May 6.
Bellevue racked up 108 points to take first place finishing just in front of Monticello with 102. Anamosa was third (87), Tipton fourth (80), Mid-Prairie fifth (73.50), Cascade earned sixth place (72), Camanche seventh (61), Northeast Goose Lake eighth (46), North Cedar ninth (41), Durant 10th (25), West Liberty 11th (17), Iowa City Regina 12th (16) and West Branch 13th (10.5).
Cascade took top honors in three events: 4x100-meter relay — Luka Rickels, Jack Menster, Isaac Nava and Jonah Manternach (44.72); 4x200 — Rickels, Manternach, Nava and Menster (1:32.56) and 4x400 — Jackson McAleer, Cole Miller, Manternach and Nava (3:31.52).
McAleer won the 400-hurdles (57.06) and finished fifth in the 110-high hurdles (16.01).
The Cougars claimed second place in the sprint medley — Rickels, McAleer, Menster and Miller (1:36.27) and the distance medley — Rickels, Manternach, Nava and Miller (3:44.07).
Menster raced to a fourth-place finish in the 200 (23.10).
In the 4x800, Vic Kauder, Tyler Kaalberg, Davis Trumm and Adam Knepper took fifth (8:47.39).
Knepper finished seventh in the 1,600 (4:50.58) and Kaleb Topping was eighth in the shot put (40-5).
