Cascade’s Brody Supple hits an approach at Fillmore Fairways during a dual meet with North Cedar, May 6.

Durant hosted the River Valley Conference golf meet, May 4, at the Blue Top Ridge course and Cascade came in sixth among the 14 teams represented.

West Branch took the meet with a surprising 11-stroke advantage over runner-up Monticello, 325-336. The rest of the field trailed those two by a wide margin, with Tipton taking third at 358, followed by Durant 371, Regina 384, Cascade 387, Mid Prairie 389, Northeast 390, North Cedar397, Wilton 401, West Liberty 405, Camanche 406, Anamosa 414 and Bellevue 428.

Cascade counted Gavin Manternach at 83 (43-40), taking sixth place in the individual standings via cardback among four players, Ray Martin at 98 (45-53), Isaac Martin 102 (56-46) and Eli Green 104 (48-56).

Medal winner for the meet was Tipton’s Bob Ryan 76, followed by West Branch’s Dylan Countryman 77, Monticello’s Ty Kehoe 81, Mid-Prairie’s Dominic McCain and West Branch’s Will Bridges 82,

Manternach, Regina’s Mikey Takacs and West Branch’s Kaleb Sexton and Brady Knoop, all at 83 and rounding out the top 10.

Durant’s low came from Ethan Gast with 90. Northeast got an 89 from Hayden Lee, North Cedar an 86 from Jayden Nabb, Wilton a 96 from Josh Hunter, West Liberty a 97 from Colin Cassidy, Camanche a 95 from Cade Emerson, Anamosa a 91 from Payton Boeckenstedt and Bellevue a 96 from Jensen Wedeking.

The Cougars hosted North Cedar May 6 and took the win 174-189 behind double 42s from Manternach and Ray Martin, 43 from Isaac Martin and 47 from Brody Supple. Nabb fired a 41 for medalist.
