With two River Valley Conference wins last week, Cascade has secured the RVC North division title at 5-1.
In a big conference matchup for both teams, Cascade swept the North Cedar Knights, Oct. 1 (28-26, 25-20, 25-19).
Each game was a nail biter for the now 17-5 Cougars as North Cedar put up a fight every step of the way.
The first game played made Cascade realize that North Cedar was not to be trifled with. Heading into the match, they knew the games would be competitive but achieved the win as a team none the less.
Game two was equally as competitive. Every time either Cascade or North Cedar went up several points in the score, the lead continuously switched back and forth those several points for each team.
During the final game, Cascade knew they needed to put the match away with the final win, and that’s exactly what they did winning by six points and gaining a big victory in conference.
“I think we came out ready to play tonight,” coach Mary Frake said. “Our aggressiveness as a team was amazing and everyone gave great effort all across the board. We came into tonight knowing that it was going to be a big conference and overall match, we executed well and everyone stepped up on all levels to get us the win.”
Cascade’s leaders were: serving — Jess Hoffman 15-of-15, Aliyah Weber 15-of-16, Molly McElmeel 14-of-14, Brooke Denniston 12-of-14, Ally Hoffman 8-of-9, Abby Welter 7-of-9; blocks — Jess Hoffman, McElmeel and Welter two, Lilly Trumm one; kills — Welter 13, Ally Hoffman and McElmeel 10, Trumm four, Isabelle Fransen three, Jess Hoffman two, Denniston one; digs — Denniston 21, Jess Hoffman 20, Ally Hoffman 13, McElmeel nine, Welter eight, Weber five, Fransen two, Trumm one; assists — Jess Hoffman 39.
On Oct. 3, the Cougars pushed themselves to the title outright with their sweep of Northeast (25-6, 25-11, 25-17).
The first game of the match was a blowout for Cougars, winning by 19 and setting the standard for the remainder of the evening
