Richard C. Moore, 82, of Cascade, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020.

Visitation for Richard was held from 2-8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a prayer service was held at 2 p.m.

A Mass of Christian burial for Richard was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 6, 2020 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, with Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Eucharistic Ministers were Jean Conrad and Sister Marlene McDonnell. Lectors were Keenan Francois and Jamie Telgenhoff. Placing of the pall was done by Patricia Moore, Tina Becker, Sheila Moore, Marcia Motsch, Molly Moore, Rick Moore and Sue Francois. Giftbearers were Seph Grant, Shea Motsch, Kayla Moore and Christian Francois.

Burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade with flag presentation done by the Cascade American Legion Post #528.

Honorary pallbearers were Pat and Wayne Tauke, Fred and Susan Rogers, Ken and Pat Jaeger, Jerome and Bettty Green, Gene and Jean Conrad, Rita Kauder, John and Sheila Beringer, Richard and Joyce Lynch, Terry and Jan Frasher, Shane and Tammy Keeney, Kevin and Marie Lynch, and Steve and Candy Bradley.

Casketbearers for Richard were David Moore, Tom Moore, Joe Moore, Bob Moore, Mark Moore, Todd Moore, Marty Moore and Ken Moore.

Richard was born Oct. 22, 1937 in Dubuque, son of John and Viola (Fettkether) Moore. He received his education from St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Garryowen. On June 11, 1960, he was united in marriage to Patricia O’Shea at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade.

Richard was a master carpenter for many years. He had a great devotion for his family and often shared his love for cooking. He was also an avid Pilot and will long be remembered for his theatrical flying feats.

He is a member of St. Martin’s Parish in Cascade. Richard was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen’s Club.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Moore of Cascade; six children, Tina (Jim) Becker of Watkins, Sheila Moore of Dubuque, Marcia (the Late Tom) Motsch of East Dubuque, Ill., Molly Moore of Cedar Rapids, Rick (Brenda) Moore of Dubuque, Sue (Rickey) Francois of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three brothers, Fred (Mazie) Moore of LaMotte, Lyle (Ruth) Moore of Peosta and Terry (Arlene) Moore of Bernard; and several nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his beloved beagle, Bo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Michael Moore on Dec. 13, 1971, son-in-law, Tom Motsch on Nov. 4, 2019; and a brother, Jack Moore.
