Cascade’s Cole Miller rounds the bend in the distance medley at the state-qualifying meet in Monticello April 10.

The Cascade boys track and field team failed to have any members gain a spot in the state field as the Cougars finished 11th as a team at the state-qualifying meet in Monticello May 10.

Bellevue won the meet with 136.5 points and North Fayette Valley finished second (88) ahead of Jesup (78) and Monticello (71). The Cougars were able to finish fifth in four events, but in order to make it to the heat and lane assignment sheets to compete at the state meet in Drake Stadium May 16-18 athletes needed to be among the top two finishers at their state-qualifying site or have one of the eight next best performances statewide.

Brady Graff was fifth in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.73) and Carson Nauman took fifth in the 3,200 (11:04.55).

Nauman also finished eighth in the 1600 (4:57.35) and Tyler Kaalberg earned a sixth-place finish in the 400 (55.92).
