Striping on 1st Avenue begins July 17

Individuals driving on 1st Avenue in Cascade may experience brief delays as the 1st Avenue Striping Project begins July 17.

After MSA Professional Services performed a traffic assessment and presented its findings to the Cascade City Council, the council approved reducing 1st Avenue to two 13-foot drive lanes and a 14-foot turning lane. The remaining two feet of roadway to the gutter pan on each side will be marked off with a white line.

Advanced Traffic will perform the work, which will affect from Monroe Street SE to McKinley Street West. Downtown will not be affected. The complete project may take two days to complete. Drivers will still be able to access 1st Avenue during the project, but it will be reduced to one lane.
