Amanda Goodman

Amanda Goodman, former news anchor at KWWL, will be guest speaker at the Cascade Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner

For years, Amanda Goodman was a fixture in many Eastern Iowa living rooms as a news anchor at KWWL. On Wednesday, March 27, Goodman will be in front of another group of familiar Eastern Iowans, as the featured speaker at this year’s Cascade Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner.

Goodman is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who spent 18 years working in TV news.

She knew she wanted to make a bigger impact in her community as an advocate for children, so she “retired” from news and is now the executive director of Family & Children’s Council, the area’s only child-abuse-prevention agency. Goodman is currently working with legislators to make stricter laws against child predators.

She also writes a blog called “Unfiltered,” where she doesn’t hold back, especially when it comes to empowering women and children.

A native of Pennsylvania, Goodman and her husband have four children: Gia, Nico, Luciana and Aria.

The event will be at the American Legion Hall, with doors opening at 5 p.m. for social hour. Dinner follows, along with the speaker and “Business of the Year” presentation.

The event is open to the public. For tickets or information, call Jen Rhomberg at 690-8611.
