The Jones County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Special Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) from July 3 to July 9, according to a release.

During this S.T.E.P. wave, the office issues 18 citations, 29 warnings and assisted 10 motorists. Both pre and post wave seat belt surveys showed a 94% usage rate among motorists.

The next S.T.E.P. wave will occur from Aug. 16 to Sept. 2, documents state.
